Layering Pieces- when Mother Nature can’t make up her mind

Ok, Where do you live? Here in Nashville, Mother Nature sure can’t make up her mind. One minute it’s freezing and the next it feels like the start to summer. Literally, in the same day it can be a few different seasons. I have seen some pretty funny memes floating around that reflect this confusion our city seems to have- ha.

Since it seems the only way to dress is in layers, let’s talk about my go-to layering pieces. Im going to share 4 different styles with you- all pieces I think you can wear many ways, and honestly, you will wear for years.

1. The denim jacket.

Let’s be real here- the denim jacket has never, and will never, go out of style. Each season you may see slight tweaks to its appearance, but a good ole classic denim jacket just can’t be beat. Able is my go-to shop for denim because of the quality and fit. I have a slightly distressed denim one and a black one, and these are worth the splurge I guarantee you. Your price per wear will be pennies. I typically cuff my denim jackets and often love a popped collar. Do you have a go-to fav year after year?

2. A blazer

Yes, even those of us not checking into an office can, and should, wear a blazer. There are many different style blazers out there these days, but I want to narrow it down to 2 of my favorites. My blush blazer from GibsonLook is probably one all you Instagram gals message me about the very most. It is made of soft knit and lined in fun, yet simple, fabrics, and the best part is… it’s machine washable & under $100. While I wear a small, you have likely seen Kaiser (13 years old) in the XXS oatmeal blazer. Before we know it, I have a feeling we will be sharing clothes.

A different style blazer, but equally as fun and versatile would be the newly dropped Good Hart Clothing Myrtle beach blazer. This one is more of a longer-style blazer and made of a crinkle fabric that gives it such a light and airy feel. The sleeve detail is so fun and the color helps this be styled so many ways.

3.  A longer layer.

I know lots of us prefer a longer layering piece and this is where the Good Hart Memphis Cargo Jacket comes in. Not just because of the name (you all know I grew up in Memphis), but this is such a great jacket for every age and body shape. It is fully lined with a textured stripe that gives a fun pop when the sleeves are rolled up and has the most flattering cinched gathering at the back waist. My personal favorite feature is the gorgeous buttons at the chest and arm tabs. I have worn this most often with leggings and a tee, but also love it with jeans or white jeans too.

4. A sweatshirt

Yes, I said it… a sweatshirt, but not just any sweatshirt. I have been wearing my Judith March sweatshirts so often I seem to be adding new ones to my “collection” quite frequently. You can completely customize these or you can buy from the pre made selection and I love that you can “dress them up” or “dress them down”

That about wraps up my 4 staple layering pieces that will take you just about anywhere on the agenda- dressy or casual. Now, I’m hoping that just about the time this catches your attention, Mother Nature will decide to cooperate and give us a real spring. Are you with me?
